The much awaited sequel of the director duo, Abbas-Mustan’s 2008 action packed thriller, ‘Race’, is all set to go into production in August this year.

The cast of the second installment of the smash hit, being produced by Tips, has been finalized, and while some of the stars from the first part have been retained, some weren’t lucky enough to bag a role in the successful film’s sequel.

"The casting has to be perfect once the script is okayed," Abbas-Mustan said some time back. "The expectations from Race 2 are humongous and we plan to make it bigger and better than the first part.”

'Race 2' cast
The impressive star cast includes Saif Ali Khan and Anil Kapoor, apart from John Abraham, who replaced Akshay Khanna as the negative lead.

The casting of the film has been constantly hounded by rumors ever since it was officially announced. Initially, it was reported that Kareena and Asin would be the leading ladies, however, these reports turned out to be untrue.

Falsifying the rumors, the director duo denied the existence of Junior Bachchan in the film.

Producer Ramesh Taurani said, "Not true at all! Abhishek isn't part of the film."

Deepika and Sonakshi replace Kat and Bips
Both the leading ladies, Katrina and Bipasha, who brought the oomph factor in the first part, have lost out to Deepika Padukone and Sonakshi Sinha in the sequel. The role sashayed by Sameera Reddy in ‘Race’ as Anil’s leading lady is yet to be decided. The leading ladies will be different as well.

"Deepika Padukone and Sonakshi Sinha have been confirmed. We need to finalize one more leading lady opposite Anil," said Taurani.

Whatever be the cast of this film, audience have very high expectations from it considering director duo Abbas-Mustan’s panache for making films that leave audience guessing right till the end. Their finesse for handling action and suspense based subjects has been very well highlighted in ‘Race’.

Whether they manage to repeat the magic again is to be seen.
